Joining is easy.
Many of you have asked, how do I join the Cocktail Party? This is a good question. If you read our philosophy, you will learn that we are truly about both civil discourse as well as the importance of what "the cocktail hour" stands for -- time spent with others enjoying face-to-face interaction, stimulating conversation and a break from the pressures of "being productive." In a way, joining the party means simply taking time out to do just these things.
It also means that you support the notion that politics need not be filled with vitriol and hatred. We don't support the bully mentality that is pervasive in modern political discourse. In a word, it's okay to disagree. If you're a republican, go out there and make friends with a democrat...or vice versa! You may learn something and, at the very least, you'll have a greater understanding of what the "other" is all about. And, for goodness sake, please have a good cocktail while doing this. Our extensive research has lead us to the conclusion that good spirits will improve everyone's spirit! |
